Electric Mud BBQ - Mmm I love chicken!

I'm just going to start this by saying I absolutely love Queen St W. The shops, the art galleries (anyone see the giant Bill Murray painting at Jessgo, it's pretty awesome, oh and Bill Murray if you are reading this my husband is a big fan),  and the huge variety of restaurants makes this one of my top neighbourhoods to wander around. There are at least (and trust me this is a very conservative number) 20 restaurants that I want to try out, The husband and I strolled down Queen St the other night on our way to a hip and happening (yes I know I sound old, trying to sound young and yes I feel old saying "hip and happening") place called Electric Mud BBQ. Believe me when I say, it was hard to not stop and eat at one of the many places we passed along the way, but luckily we were meeting up with someone so we had to go, and I am happy we did.

(Look at the graffiti, it's so colourful and alluring, it draws you right in)

Viking Bakery - Bringing back awesome memories one baked good at a time

Some of you may know of my great love of Iceland, so just imagine how excited I was to read a Toronto Star article describing the newly opened Icelandic bakery, Viking Bakery. Truth be told, it took me much longer than expected to make my way to this magical little place, but it did take me two subways to get there.

BakeryHaus - I thought I knew love, until I met you (sorry hubster :) )

I am so very excited to be writing about this place! I will admit, I did not find this place, a friend posted on Instagram a pic of her donut, and I knew I had to check this place out (what a time we live in when you can track down food with your phone). This may be a bit pre-mature since I've only tried one donut from here, but my goodness was it ever good. I am heading back this week and will post an update of the other goodies I get (I'm coming for you cronut!)

Bakeryhaus has two locations, one on Queen St West, and the one I visited, on Yonge St, right across from Davisville subway station.

Delica Kitchen - Way better than I expected!

So I know it's been a while since I've last blogged (Jan 1st, to be exact, so much for that New Years promise!), but hey, it's been a rough and cold winter and as much as I love food and telling you about it, I really haven't been up for going out (shocking, yes I know!) But I digress, this post is all about a fun little place I discovered called Delica Kitchen on Yonge St just south of St.Clair St on the West side. It was such a lovely day, a bit cold, but sunny, so I decided on taking a walk along Yonge, and thank goodness I did, because I would not have found this gem of a place otherwise.

(Such a cute little spot)

Rashers - It's a bacon restaurant, that is all you need to know!

Let me start off by wishing everyone a Happy New Year! My new years resolution is to go out to more amazing restaurants more often so that I can do my duty and report back to all of you. I couldn't think of a better way to kick off the new year and start my resolution than to tell you all about a restaurant who has decided to dedicate itself to one of the most magical, heart warming, taste bud tantalizing foods on the planet, BACON!! I, until about a year ago, was completely oblivious to the fact that places like this existed, and you better believe that I am now in the process of making up for lost time.

Rashers is the restaurant I am talking about, and I just gotta say, I am so very happy to be living in a world that includes this place. It's a  small place located on Queen St. East, but it's mighty (mighty tasty), and you can't miss it because of it's very stylish pops of red.

Union Social - A good place to spend a Friday Night (or any night!)

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season and are ready to get back into the TDot eating scene! I apologize for my hiatus, December is a crazy time of year for me. Honestly I started writing this blog post about a month ago because I was so excited to tell you all about it, but life took over and I was unable to complete, that is until now (woot woot!)

The Union Social Eatery is what I am going to talk about in this post (and man I am ever excited). This place has done the near impossible and made it onto my "Gotta Go Back ASAP aka my GGBA" list and has secured a special spot in my heart next to Stack and under The Senator restaurant. I gotta say, I was pretty ecstatic about finding this place and bringing my dining buddies to it. This place is located, very conveniently, on Yonge St right next to the St.Clair subway station (well you have to cross over Yonge to get it, but it's close enough).

Mary McLeod's Shortbread Shop - If I could I would be there everyday

I grew up eating buttery, crumbly, amazing shortbread made by my very own Scottish Auntie Anne. She would make them for Christmas and every year my family would get a tin or two of those bad boys. Her shortbread cookies were so amazingly good, there would be fights in the house over who got the last one. The very sight of a Christmas cookie tin makes my mouth water. Sadly she is no longer with us and I have never been able to find a replacement for those cookies, until now! Mary McLeod's shortbread, I have to be honest, is not as good as my Auntie Anne's were, however they are a close second (and trust me I have eaten a lot of other shortbread).

(Cute little exterior)

This cute little shop is on Queen St. East and must stop when I am in the neighbourhood. Now of course you can buy these cookies at other stores like Chapters and Whole Foods, but I really suggest going at least once, you will not be disappointed.
